I know a dyson or a kerbie will do the trick but unfortunately they are not in my current price range. Do any of you pet owners (specifically of cats) have any vaccum buying advice? My current vaccum is terrible and I'm looking for something new that wont leave pet hair behind (like the one I have now does even when I use the pet release powders) Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

Bissell has a new one out that is made with the idea of the Dyson in mind. I had horrible luck with Hoover and Eureka. Bissell is a good brand, it's what I had before I bit the bullet and bought the Dyson. ( http://www.bissell.com/Products/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=Bissell&category%5Fname=UprightVacuum&product%5Fid=Lift%2DOff%5FPet ) We have seven katz and couldn't get any other model to come home with us. (Cat hair rolls around and laughs at the Dustbuster models.) You want one without a bag, and one that has the Hepa filters, and has the strongest cyclone suction you can get in your price range, and one you can readily get replacement filters for. Look for one that is easy to take apart to clean the roller, and has pet attachments, and either a long attachment hose or one you can buy an extender for. Try using Static Guard instead of the powders, the powders just clog up your vacuum. You may have to vacuum everyday at first, then later twice a week just maintain it.

I'd also invest in a "sticky roller" to finish off the small places your vac can't get to. (You can get the Wal-mart brand that has three refills fairly cheap.)

Good luck my Furry Friend... just remember, it's just cat hair. Don't get discouraged.

I have a Dyson and it works great. I have 4 indoor dogs and a cat, it is the only one that has ever worked for me.

Shopvac. One of those heavy-duty wet-dry vacuums that you can get at Home Depot. They're inconvenient, but they don't clog as much (I think?). The challenge would be in finding an attachment that efficiently cleans carpet, since they're not set up to have an agitator (maybe some are, who knows?)
