I could be normal for you. I have had the feeling of bruising and crushed glass in my pelvic area for months now.
The contractions are probably Braxton Hicks. And are not really dilating you any. I'm 35 wks also. This is my 9th pregnancy and the crushed glass feeling have been quite normal for me.
But please check with your doctor about it first.

It's really hard to judge the actual size of the baby just by feeling it and if you've had a late-term ultrasound that's even MORE inaccurate. Guessing the baby's size from a u/s can be wrong up to THREE POUND in either direction!! It might just feel like the baby is "really" big because you've never HAD anything quite that large taking up residence in your abdomen before. Hang in there, you're almost done.

As far as the bruised and tender feeling... I'm not sure if that's normal or not. You're probably starting to feel a lot of pressure on your cervix due to the baby's size, the probability that the baby has flipped head down and the head is now pressing right against your cervix. This can cause tenderness and crampy feelings.

The contractions you're feeling are probably Braxton Hicks contractions but that's a good thing. You're only 35 weeks along, it would be good if you could hang in there another few weeks before you started dilating. You're still "pre-term". Once you hit 36 weeks you'll be considered "full-term" even though the "full-term" is actually all the way up to 40 weeks. BH contractions are leading up to the real thing and are gearing your body up for the job it has to do when the baby is truly ready to be born. Just hang in there, you'll be there soon enough!

Do you think those could be Braxton-Hicks? Usually doctors don't want you coming to the hospital until the contractions are regular, like 1 minute long 5 minutes apart so until you get like that, hang in there unless it gets too painful.

You have a lot of weight pushing down on things, including blood vessels. It is normal for all sorts of areas to feel tender.

I am 35 weeks as well...I will be 36 week tomorrow... And, I feel the same way you do...my baby will kick up at my ribs and then come charging down against my cervix...and it feels like she's trying to bust out.....I do not know if I am dilated...I should find out wednesday when I go to the doctor...but I too have had contractions for about a month or more...they are not painful...although they are getting to be...and also I think my mucus plug has been coming out bit by bit for that past month..

The contractions are called Braxton-Hicks...they are practice pains. You are feeling pressure from the baby's head, pushing down and getting into position to be born. Good Luck. Walk, that is the best thing to do now, or squat...it will help relieve that pressure you are feeling...it will be over soon. Boy or girl?

With my second pregnancy I felt the same way and I had hard contractions from 34 weeks on. I finally begged my doctor to induce me at 38 weeks but I was also dilated 3 cm. Maybe you should try some home induction methods soon so you will be dialted enough to be induced.

I've had that feeling for quite awhile too. I was told it's the muscles in that area starting to stretch out. It's possible you're just having braxton hicks contractions as well and they are just practice for the real thing.

um,... contractions for a month?? are you sure thats not the baby moving and turning in your belly? and last time you saw your doctor you should've told them about your sore spot. That way they can test and figure out what's going on.

I would get a second opinion, it's your right to. if you have any doubts about it that your Dr. isnt helping subdue- get a second opinion or ask for an ultrasound to make sure everything is OK. Good luck!
