guys are giving you the advice to masturbate, which isn't a bad idea, and women are telling you to try the tampons, or even stick to the pads.

i think you should give the tampons a try. once you get used to it, you won't have a problem. the first few times you try to put one in you may not get it right, but you will, don't worry.

try ones with plastic applicators, because they'll slide better. if you have to, use something like KY jelly to lubricate the applicator so it slides better.

don't worry, it won't hurt. start with small plastic ones if you're afraid, and use the lubricant if you feel you need to. as someone else said, it won't get stuck. follow the directions and you should be fine.

as i said, it may take a few tries putting it in before you get it right, and then you won't feel it, you'll just have a string dangling out. make sure to relax your muscles when you pull out the tampon, or you won't be able to get it out as easily.

you'll do fine!

You can buy tampons with an applicator 'guide' which helps slide it into the right place. Maybe for your first few times you might want to try with something like this, and after you have the hang of it you wont need to use a guide anymore.

I think the best way is just to practise and give it a shot and soon enough you'll be feeling better about it, I'm sure :) There is no reason to be afraid, as once the tampon is in the right place you wont feel it at all, and once its ready to be changed it can be pulled out easily.

That's why we have the option of using pads. Some people prefer pads. Pads are over-all the healthier choice. Tampons, are unnoticable, and can even be more comfortable. You don't even realize they're there if you use them correctly. However, there is a risk of getting Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) if you have a heavier period and don't change your tampon within the amount of hours you should. You can also be at risk of getting TSS if you use the incorrect size tampon according to your flow. If you have a ligh period, you should use a tampon made for a light period and vice versa.

With pads you're not at risk. Honestly though, it's messier and you feel alot more uncomfortable.

If you are comfortable with wearing pads, then do with whatever you feel. However, there are correct ways about inserting a tampon and if you follow the directions, you can over-come your fear. It's quite simple and if you have had sexual intercourse it will be easier to insert.

The only way to get over the fear is just to use the tampon.
At first you may want to use a light days tampon to get used to it. Then, after using a couple of those you may go up to a normal flow one. After that, if you need to, it depends on your flow, you can go up to a larger one.
Some people go ahead and just use a normal one instead of starting small, but if you are scared then that may be a good idea.

Tampons are very easy to use, and don't be afraid that they will get lost inside of you. I have read in magazine's that some girls think that. The tampon can only go so far.

They are so much easier than pads. Once you get used to them.

Well, once you get over your fear and just do it, you will realize that a tampon is great especially if you are active in sports. I think they are wonderful and you won't notice it if you insert it correctly. Follow the instructions on the box and everything should be fine. Don't be afraid it won't hurt at all. I'm a virgin and I have been using tampons for about a year now.

There's nothing wrong with tampons and pads but there are people who prefer pads because they believe that tampons can give you cancer. I don't know whether if this is true or not but they also said that it is because you are not allowing your body to dispense the blood and blood clots by inserting a tampon; it pushes the "stuff" up there. Use a pad at night because you may go heavy and wear tampons during the day with pantiliners.

nothing to worry about tampons are so harmless they dont hurt and they have no discomfort. i dont know whatt i would do without tampons cause pads are just gross to me. just read the instructions that come in the box. but since you havent used tampons i suggest using tampax gentle glide. Putting something up there as u put it. isnt all that bad.

try mastrabation to get you used to the idea of anything being 'up there'. don't go pervert just yet. This is from a psychological standpoint. Baby steps to get you to feel more comfortable with yourself. Call it self exploration if you like, but it helps to desensitize your mind to your fears.

You don't have to use tampons....just use pads for now. Tampons aren't going anywhere!

Don't be afraid. If you don't do it, you'll never swim again. Best of luck, read the directions.
