NO. Your question is like asking is an orange an apple fruit? For one thing, carbon is an element not a compound. Also, Oxygen by itself is a totally different element than another element named Carbon.

But I see your problem if you see a compound such as Carbon dioxide or CO2 which has both carbon and an oxygen elements. Now CO2 is a compound because it is composed of more than one kind of elements. It is a compound that contains Carbon. Thus, it is a carbon compound because it contains the element CARBON even if it also contains the element Oxygen. Similarly, you can say that CO2 is also an oxygen compound because it contains the element OXYGEN.

Thus, oxygen is not a carbon element, nor is it a carbon compound.

CO and CO2
Carbon Monoxide and Carbon Dioxide
have carbon and oxygen in them - but no

O2 or Oxygen is NOT a carbon compound, because carbon is not in the formula

Little Johnny used to drink
But now he drinks no more
For what he thought was H2O
was H2SO4

Merry Christmas!

pure gaseous Oxygen compound is O2. Oxygen is a not a Carbon compound. Oxygen and Carbon are two different elements. Oxygen is reperesented as O and Carbon is reperesented as C in the periodic table.

Carbon gas is not usually found but Carbon is found in solid forms coal, graphite and diamond (yes diamonds are made up of Carbon)

Now gase Carbondioxide = CO2 is a compund of Carbon and Oxygen

Oxygen is not a compound, it is an element you need to breath all the time. Perhaps you meant to ask about CO2 or CO? these are compounds of carbon and oxygen.

Carbon Dioxide isn't the situation, it somewhat is Carbon Monoxide which certainly replaced into released in small portions yet by using fact the burning of fossil fuels the quantity of CO created has tripled. CO takes longer to combine with the climate interior the ambience than the organic Carbon Dioxide. that's a fact, all it takes is a trouble-free understand of chemistry.

Oxygen is an element. It doesn't have carbon or any other element in it.

When Oxygen reacts with Carbon it most easily yields carbon dioxide (CO2) which *is* a carbon compound.
