I DONT recommend going with a "big" host - the customer service will slack due to the customer base they are serving. 1&1, iPower, Godady, and others look very appealing - but if you want to wait on hold for 1/2 hour to get to talk to someone who doesnt know what they're doing - go for it.

A smaller web host will dedicate more time to their customers, as they must to keep relations strong.

I am with http://www.DependableHost.net - and have had NO problems or complaints! I have a dedicated account rep who cares about my website, and business. I get a phone call from him every few months wanting to make sure that everthing is operating correctly, and I'm happy with the service. In fact, I also just got a christmas card in the mail from him.

My search for a host is over - I highly recommend them. They have a deal now - you can get your first month totally free. You have nothing to loose - give them a shot at your business.

I think that cheaper is not necessarily better. And I have to seriously wonder about those offering "unlimited" bandwidth and disk space. Those things don't exist in the real world.

I finally reached the point where I set up my own hosting company, so I can pay the necessary attention to my clients and do hand-holding when necessary. How many hosts do you know who offer live classes on getting a website going?

And "cheap" will probably not get you stuff you need to effectively maintain a successful site when the data you're storing starts to become really important. Customer data, for example. How many web hosts allow you to set the permissions on your SQL server so that you can access it from your own IP address and use administrative software like SQLYog to schedule backups?

It definitely beats using the PHPMySQL import/export when the site gets big.

You might want to try topdomainsinc.com as they offer both mysql and mssql databases at a great price, I have got my site that I am working on with them in their US Datacenter. I did notice that the hosting plan with servage only included mysql not mssql which is essential if your running .net applications and you will need a Windows box and not a Unix, which are generally more expensive.

Topdomainsinc.com are offering 200Gb and 2000Gb transfers per month for $14.99/mo which is about £8.

I would recommend to you using DREAMHOST! The absolute best web hosting service on the planet. Great Customer service, tons of space and traffic, THEY HAVE EVERYTHING and absolutely the best support service. In fact they are having a special now, you can save $50 on any of their monthly or $30 and $40 on their annual plans.

Just use the promo code "BESTHOST22" to get this deal! I just signed up last night and I am very happy with it so far!

i am using yahoo small business and it seems okay.
It comes out to less than 15 a month...I used site builder 2.3,for free with their plans, to build my page(WWW.SUTURED.US) and it was okay. A little bit of a pain for certain things but all in all easy to use.
Barring a little illustrator and photoshop time, I had my site up and working within a few hours.
