You can beat on a pillow or other soft things, like mattresses , chairs & sofas! You can break bottles against a brick wall. You can throw your cell phone in the river. You can scream loudly as you drive your car on the freeway or in a tunnel. If you don't have a car, you can usually walk through a tunnel & scream! You can pet a dog or a cat & sometimes this can help some people to calm down. You can load up a backpack & walk until you either get too tired to continue, get lost , or get mugged! Take a bath or shower. Eat to excess. Blah blah blah.......... :o)

Every person is different and not all things work for all people, but here are some techniques that I know work for quite a few, including myself:

1. Go on a bike ride. Let your thoughts roam freely and pedal hard, really working your muscles. You should be tired after your bike ride.

2. Lifting weights, focusing on the counting the reps.

3. Punching something heavy, but soft as hard as you possibly can until you're exhausted. Alternately, you can punch a weight machine if you own one until you can't hit it anymore. Feel free to growl, snarl and yell as obscenely as you'd like.

4. For the A Type personality, summarize your rage and post it on a blog or a forum, omitting names of course...

5. Confront the cause of your anger assertively. Don't become violent, but make sure that whoever offended you knows that he or she is just being a vicious hatemonger and you're not going to tolerate it.

Then, after the rage release is done, do something you enjoy. If you have a hobby, focus on it. Go out to a movie, treat yourself to a nice drink (but not too much, just a tad, no more then one shot), things of that nature. Release then try to enjoy yourself.

It depends on the situation, where I'm at and who is around.
For every action, there is a reaction, whether right or wrong.
Walk it off, deep breaths, exercise, cleaning, you have to find a method that works for you.
The bad part of getting angry is losing the ability to control it within reason.

You feel very aggressive to the point of hurting somebody...
the alternative is to go out and relax, try to mellow down
your anger and go back to your right senses.

Scream therapy. Write a letter to who or what your mad at. Karate or some other physical thing. Excersising. Count to 100. Sit down and calm down.

Curse. Make sure you have a good selection of nasty words for any occasion. It pays to do it under your breath if there are other people around.
It doesn't do any good to keep it inside. Depression is anger turned inwards.

Go to the gym to lift weights or do cardio. It relieves stress and works out your body.
