American dream: as an African American, to be free from hatred and prejudice outside of the race and within the race. Goal to get there, start with my daughter and people around me to be an example of love. Stereotype? Just because a person is poor or down on their luck doesn't make them a 2nd class person. People need to be judge on actions and intention, if they are going to be judged at all.

The American dream is to live the life the way that you wish and be what ever you want to become. Quite often today, the federal and state govts make this very difficult. It is not the land of the free as it once was however the possibilities are still out there for all of us.

I think the American Dream was coming to America (as an immigrant) with nothing and becoming a success (i.e. making a lot of money.) This is the land of opportunity.

The american dream to means to make a better place for your family. to be able to give your family a shelter, food, love, care, and an education. the american dream is to be able to live a life were you are not judged, critisized, or mistreated. My advice: follow your dreams, don't give up on them and they might come true.

lets see.. you work hard at a job you hate making enough money to support an ungrateful family all your life.. then you retire and your kids move off and never speak to you again and your retirement pay doesn't pay the bills so you work as a greeter at wal-mart to make ends meet until you become too old to work and then get put in a nursing home to be forgotten.. that pretty much sums it up..

To me the American dream represents the oppression of many to fulfill the dreams of the few. I also see it as the ideological bastard child of manifest destiny. So there.........:(

I'm living it now.
Freedom of speech, of press, liberty with laws and order. Freedom from tyranny, the ability to pull one's self by the bootstraps and win. Pass it to the kids and hope that they know what a precious thing it is. And remember that others would have died to come here, knowing that it is a workable dream.
