It must have been "in the stars" for this to happen to me. Every year, my family picks names for Christmas (because we have such a huge family & most of us aren't rich). I picked my nephew's girlfriend. To say the least, she is not my favourite person. They live with HIS mom (my sister). The girlfriend is a spoiled brat - doesn't work - etc., etc. About a month ago, my sister told me that my nephew told her that his girlfriend had been cheating on him with one guy for 2 years!! I feel like giving her a box full of charcoal....or any empty box.

I know I need to let my personal biases not get in the way and make nice during the holidays. Yet, I don't want to "go all out" on this girl who I barely can stand the sight of. Plus, I love my nephew (and I wish he would leave her) and don't want to turn him on me. What to do?

How about making a movie gift basket? My sister did this once for me, she got a big bowl, holiday decorated and put in a Blockbuster gift card, some candy and some packets of popcorn. Everything we would need to have a movie night. You could even buy a couple of DVD's instead of the gift card. Target has a nice selection of 5.99 movies.

Or you could always get her a motivational book. LOL How about the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. She would be like "Huh"? and you'd could laugh your butt off.

as much as you want to defend your nephew it isn't your place to step in. if he forgives her then you need to at least pretend to forgive her as well. it is hard BUT this is life...

so, how about something such as:
a scarf and gloves
key chain
earrings and a necklace
gift basket from bath and body works
yankee candle
slippers
wallet

or something they can both use such as:
gift certificate to a restaurant
movie tickets for two
nice bath towels
new sheets (since they live with your family)

hope this helps! SD

I think a simple gift card would be nice, maybe for blockbuster or something. You wouldn't really have to go out of your way, and it's still something she can use. If you're looking for something bigger, maybe a nice sweater or a coat?

In my personal opinion, you should sneak in some job applications, but they might take it the wrong way and it sounds like she probably wouldn't fill them out anyways.

i'd get her something simple, it can be a bit cheeper and it still shows that you put some thought into it. a gift certificate is always good, and same as a gift basket with a bunch of random things in it. i also agree with everything the person before me wrote!

merry christmas!

The bodyshop has great gifts that are pretty cheap. Go to www.thebodyshop.com. All of their products are awesome. You can even find their nearest location if you dont like shopping online. They have complete gifts sets for hands, feet, you name it. You can also shop by price. Good luck.
