Technically blue is the opposite. Look at the six basic colors in a circle with red at the top then orang then yellow then green then blue and, finally, right next to red, purple. Three are primary: red yellow and blue. The opposite of red is green becuase, when mixing the primary colors to get the non-primary colors (orange, green and purple) there is no red in green. Thus, the opposite of green is red. So, orange coming next, is the opposite of blue and viceversa becuase there is no blue in orange. And, finally, yellow and purple. It's hard to explain but try drawing it out, even if you don't use color, just write the names of the colors or their first letter in a circle. You'll notice that purple is inbetween red and blue, the two that mix to make it, and that orange is in between the two colors that mix to make it and that green is too. It makes sense.

by using opposite, they mean complimentary. Its used to describe a colour, that when mixed with yet another colour will make a independent tone. additionally, while placed next to a minimum of one yet another they make the different colour greater vivid (because of the variety you concepts interprets colorations, the same colour will seem distinctive consistent with what colour that's next to). Yellow isn't the different of orange. listed right here are the worry-loose universal and secondary compliments: yellow and pink blue and orange purple and green. colour can grow to be an extremely perplexing element. There rather isn't any opposite of gray, that's a independent tone.

HOOKAY.....

Since orange is a combination of yellow and red, and yellow, red, and blue are the primary colors (although some argue that the primarys are red, blue, and green) and orange is between red and yellow, then pure blue is the opposite of orange.
