COMOX or COURTENAY?
I am thinking about miving to either of these places, since they are all beautiful and the house prices arent to bad for new homes, plus how hard is it to get a job with BC FERRIES?
Yeah, I know this isnt a dating question but alot people are here on this category.

I have no idea where you got your information....but the house prizes on Vancouver Island are very very high.
It is truly beautiful here...but not in the winter. It's on the coast and it either rains or it is foggy in the winter.
Regarding BC Ferries....best not decide where to live before you know from what terminal you would have to sail from.

I only lived in Nanaimo for about a year as a kid, but I still remember the stink of the mills -like dirty socks. My folks are in Powell River which is on the BC coast almost directly across from Comox. I've seen Comox in the distance and been there a few times. It's a great city, really happenin'. Some smell of the pulp mills but not as bad as Nanaimo.
BC Ferries is run by the Provincial Gov't. Use a search engine to dig up BC Ferries and you can probably find out what you need to know about work opportunities. Don't forget much of the work there, if not all, is unionized. Make sure of your opportunities before -and I stress the word before-you make any serious moving decisions. Prices of fuel are higher on Vancouver Island because of shipping on -you guessed it- BC Ferries. At least, that's what occurs on the ferry from Powell River to Comox and back. Specific times and yadda yadda. Just make sure first.
PS> There ferries are very old. I've travelled them as a kid and I'm -fortyish. My dad is late 70's and remembers the ferries as a youngster. Same old ferries -refurbished, of course. Nice new style inside, sort of, a coat or two of paint. I have travelled them recently and they appeared seaworthy. Good luck.

I live in Nanaimo. The person who complained about the smell of the pulp mills is waaay out of date. They put in new regulations many years ago; there is no smell any more.

Getting a job with BC Ferries is difficult. Lots of people working for them have been on call for years before they ever get a permanent job.

I used to live in Campbell river and although jobs are a little scarce they are definitely not impossible. I found the town beautiful and we lived on elm street and we put a deck on top of our garage and you could see the marina and its at the top of the hill so you could see all the beautiful city. I would love to move back there some day. hope this has helped also I never found a bad smell while I was there
P.S. It has the worlds largest pier and its got a great school system
