You have to find something that you are close to personally. What interest on person may not intrest you. Just think about an issue that stirs you heart up with love, hate something....and then write about it. Scribble a few words down or a sentence or two to get the wheels training and then you might be able to write you poem.

An easy way to start writing poetry is by picking something such as a flower or a puppy or whatever and write the poem as if you are that thing. Describe what you do or what your made of or what you smell like or what see from your view point.

How about writing about what feelings you have about current events such as the Darfur crisis? The Iraq War? War or conflict in general.
Christmas is a good topic, too.

How about a poem about a child that gets nothing for Christmas? A poem that makes you think and realize that Christmas is about giving and helping those less fortunate.

i made a poem which i dont think is that good but its about how life works and how people feel
im gonna work on another one that i want everyone to feel emotional

Most people prefer topics that are so romantic... most of the poems that made famous are either romantic poem or poems about love and romance..... you cant go wrong with that... good luck!!!

I hope this is mandatory. poetry sucks anyways.
write a really personal story that is quirky and original. Like how your dog died on your birthday and you were wearing a blue jacket. odd details make it memorable.
don't try to rhyme for gods sake.
