HE WILL PERFORM WELL

2006-12-13 15:21:42 · answer #1 · answered by Anonymous · 1 0

With Shahid Afridi, how do you define good performance?....
He will do what he usually does.....belt the bowlers around the park and then get out as easily...but a guy like Shahid Afridi should be in the team for the sheer Entertainment value that he brings to cricket.....(though I am an Indian, I will give a days pay to see him bat anytime..even when he is belting our bolwers around he park)....the problem i suppose is because you people see him as a batsman and not as a allrounder...I believe he is a far better bowler than he is a batsman...his slow bolwing has fetched a lot a wickets for Pakistan...and its pretty hard to smash also....So you should consider the quick fire 20 or 30 or even more that he can contibute with the bat, the runs that he saves for the team with his fileding and the wickets that he gets...and going by the rule runs saved is runs scored..i suppose you can say he scores an average of about 50 to 70 runs everygame......he is an ideal ODI player......So i think its a good move......!!!!

Shahid Ali Khan Afridi is perhaps the most entertaining cricketer the world of cricket has ever seen. It is a one day or a test match people come to see him play but the problem with our people is that they want him to score a quickfire hundred or atleast 50 whenever he comes to bat. We forget that bowlers are also players and their job is to get the batsman out. Anyway the decision of bringing back Shahid Afridi is a wise decision and Pakistan team should also capitalize on his presence in the team as he is a great motivator too. If he fails in batting he does something in bowling and if failed in bolwing he will surely give you one or two exceptional catches. He always makes his presence felt in the field. On his day he can devastate any bowling attack in the world any where. You can't say he is good at home or in sub continent pitches. Remember what he did to Mcgrah and Brett Lee in Australia when during a match when he came on to bat Brett Lee held his feet and said " Why you are so severe on me? what is your enimity with me" and Mcgrah said " Good that I have completed my bowling quota before you came on". though they were joking but still I consider it a great tribute from two great fast bowlers to a great entertainer.

Shahid Afrfidi is a nice cricketer. He has been in and outof the side but the fact remains he is required by the team. More so the team requires him to perform.

His style of batting is more prone to getting out early. But he must learn his lessons. I remember when Vengesarkar started his career and was a hard hitting batsman like Shahid, Sehwag, Richards. While playing a first class match against the touring WI team, he was seen by Gary Sobers/Rohan Kanhai (One of the two). While chatting with Vengsarkar, he told him to play sensibly/cool down if he wishes to do something worthwhile in the world of cricket. From that point onwards he settled down and was a different player and soon made it to the Indian team.
I think Shahid should follow suit and mature his batting. He can be a great force in the world cricket. All the best!
