there are two questions that i really don't understand if anyone can help, i'd really appreciate it.

1. if one of two complementary angles measures 80*degree, what if the measure of the other?

i know that complementary is 90*degrees but so the other angle would be 10*degree?

and last question is

2. if two supplementary angles are in the ratio of 5:4, find the measure of the larger angle?

hmmm, no cule on this one

thanks guys for all the help

Is your daughter taking trig or what.

first question soundlike are right triangle to me all the angles of a triangle add up to 180 degrees. 80 + 90 = 170 180 - 170 = 10 so you got that right.

my brain is cramping on the second problem but I think it might be 50 degrees and 40 degrees. And I am taking a scientific wild #ss guess on this one.

correct.
the second question. I used algebra. x+y = 180. 5/4=x/y.
so... 5/4y=x plug in x in the first equation. 5/4y +y = 180. Then simplify. add the y's to get 9/5y=180. Then 9y = 720. Then y=80, so x= 100. The angles are 80 and 100!

1.you areright
the other will be 10*
2.let the angles be 5x and 4x
5x+4x=180*
9x=180*
x=20*
therefore the angles are 100* and 80*

You are right in the first question

2)
5 ----------- x
(5+4) ----- 180

x = 5*180 / 9

x = 100º
