I've been on the Depo shot since January of this year and I've had 3 or 4 but I haven't gone in for my last one (November 29th). I know it takes from 9-12 months to wear off but how many shots do I need to take for it to take that long to wear off? How long will it still work even thou I've stopped my injections? (*wants to get pregnant!*)

It depends... It just seems to stick around in some folks.

lol

Not what you wanted to hear, I know.

One thing, though... I had a friend who went off Depo when she broke up with her BF. We were waiting & waiting for her periods to resume. She was even taking Vitex to help her horomones normalize.

Then she went to the doc for "stomach problems" and discovered she was 4 months pregnant.

Remember: Ovulation starts before your period arrives... So not seeing "Aunt Flo" doesn't necessarily mean you're not fertile.

Good luck! (May you inherit my friend's "problem"!)

I believe it's normal. I got the depo shot and immediately had mild cramping for about 2 weeks. My period then came late but it lasted 14 days. I skipped my next period then again got a period that lasted 14-16 days. That time, I had NO cramping/PMS. I ultimately had to give up on the depo shot because I had LOADS of negative side effects that practically destroyed my life. The depression was so bad that I had to be hospitalized. I was already on antidepressants and was not warned that depression was a side effect. As for physical side effects, I gained about 15 lbs in 3 months, my legs swelled, I had crippling back pain, aching muscles and joins, etc.. Good luck with it, I hope your experience is better than mine was.

I was on the depo shot for 3 years and once i stopped taking it i became pregnant a year later.
My periods returned the next month after the last shot was due and i did not get it.
That is not true about 9-12 months.
