You better have a final divorce decree in hand before reappearing before the altar or its bigamy. A divorce could take anywhere from 6months to years depending on court backlog and whether the divorce is contested or not. lots of variables in divorces control the time table, but once the divorce judgement is rendered, then it usually takes about 30 days to be registered in the dept of records and become final then

Yes, it has to be finished before marrying someone else. A typical divorce with NO arguments can be over within 2 weeks to a month. All you have to do is sign the papers & go in front of the judge. If there's disagreements or problems with custody of the children it can take a lot longer.

no u cannot get married until the divorce is finalized...it all depends on if the parties are fighting over things in the divorce as to how long it is going to take...my first marriage took 2 years, my second divorce only took 1 month.

You can not legally remarry until after your divorce is final. In most states you also have a waiting peroid of about 3 months. A divorce can be quick if both parties agree to it. In these cases, is just as long as it takes to been reviewed by a judge. But in most cases, one party either refuses to sign, or in cases of infidelity, or if there are children involved they can take much longer.

It's illegal to remarry when you are married. It is called a bigot.
The length of the divorce will be however long it takes for both parties to come into agreement on the divorce. i.e. signing the divorce parties. Laws vary from state to state.
