Why do you choose it, What draws you to it. How do you decide on the type of report for the articles and so on.

No one reports on an article. It's a story that your dig for, look for corroboration, get quotes and discover research. You have to find documents, people willing to spill the beans, find information no one else has and never thought to look for in the first place. Reporting is hard work and immensely satisfying when it comes out right.

This is generally done by the editors. They tend to focus on what news will 'sell' the best.

And the political biases of the reporter also are strong factors.

What sort of article? What sort of report?

Go with what makes you feel strongly, either good or bad....or strongly bored..
