7/7 + 3/7 = 10/7

Here's a trick.

Multiple the whole number (1) by the bottom number (7) and add to it the the top number (3). That number is your top number, and your original bottom number is the same.

Example,

1 and 2/3

Multiply 3 X 1 = 3
Add 3 + 2 = 5
Convert 1 and 2/3 = 5/3
