The food, always having a real Christmas tree in the dining room with us, having the whole family around, the fact that nothing seems to matter on Christmas day except relaxing, eating, drinking, sleeping through the queens speech and accepting and handing out presents. So many people seem to say that Christmas is always an immense disappointment but I say they dig their own hell. It's what you make of it, if you choose not to enjoy it you won't, but with just a little effort and preparation beforehand it is the best day of the year. If you hate it that much spend it in Ethiopia and send one of them to take your place, I gaurentee you they will have a good time.

A smallish tree (I am on my own, but I still have a nice tree with loads of decorations), my dogs, and friends dropping by Christmas eve. On Christmas day everyone getting together at my brother's house. Good company, good food, and all the good things. Prezzies are nice, but in reality they are not the most important of everything.
One other thing: I have elderly friends who will recieve a visit and candy either early Christmas eve or some time just before.

I bake and decorate cookies. Lots and lots and lots of cookies. I make a bunch of trays and goodie bags up, and give them away to friends, family, and staff members at the various hospitals, clinics and nursing homes we go to. On Christmas Eve, we toast the beginning of the evening in with eggnog, then we watch old Christmas favorites. We watch Midnight Mass on tv if we aren't going in person. Afterwards, I'm usually the only one awake by then, so I will just pour myself a mulled cider or another eggnog, sit in the livingroom with the Christmas lights on just watching the Yule Log. Very peaceful, and not a more perfect Christmas can be had.

we decorate the house and have plenty of candles ans Christmas lights.. we always have a big dinner with family and close friends on Christmas eve, and open gifts. on Christmas morning we open stockings.....everyone has one, even the adults...the kids work together and help Santa fill the adult stockings, and Santa fills the kids stockings. then we have a huge breakfast, and spend the day playing games, and watching movies that were given as gifts. to put it simply...family is what makes christmas special at our home.. Merry Christmas !

We spend time together.
We celebrate Yule a couple of days before Christmas and build a big fire. We try to have all our friends come over and have a big potluck dinner.
Mostly its the people.
