It has had its negatives and postives. Mainly positives though thank god.

I have never been happier. I have been out for three years and I have never felt more myself. I hid for so long and didn't realise how unhappy I was.

I have a great girlfriend - I am still with the first woman I ever dated. I knew there was something about her and that is why I decided to get out of the closet - she was worth risking it all for.

It was also positive because a lot of people had suspected it but had never asked me. When I told them it was a lot of 'about time' or 'I knew it'.

The only negative thing would be the amount of time it took my family to accept my sexuality and my girlfriend. It only took about 6 months but boy was that a weird 6 months.

I'm not gay. However I have a friend Joey who is. Joey and I grew up in a small town where anything different was viewed as wrong. It was also a very religous town. When Joey came out people were so cruel, people stopped being his friend, and other things. Joey changed my life because he showed me that being Gay isn't bad, now I'm a better person.

I wouldn't know because I am not gay. Also, I have had 2 gay friends and i see how their lives went downhill. It was hard for them to get along with co-workers and most of all, christians. I respect anybody and everybody bases on their beliefs even though i may not agree with it. But I can understand and sympathize what you are going to. Its hard not being able to express your feelings for somebody because you arent sure how somebody is going to react. But you really have to realize that it is not important what other people think...live your life the way you want to its your life. You make and choose your choices...Good luck! :)

It has, for the good, and not so good. I go to a Catholic all boys school, and when I came out earlier this year, I got my a-ss kicked and had to go to the hospital. But now, even thought it's been only a few months, I feel a little bit more accepted... I guess it'll only take time... But I'm glad I came out, I feel more closer to who I really am...

It hasn't changed me. I've been out since early teens and i'm over 50. I'm still me. Wouldn't want to be anyone else.

I think being lesbian has made me more open-minded and accepting of people who are "different," and more aware of how sad it is that in this day and age, there are still so many ignorant, hateful bigots. it's also given me a much bigger circle of friends.

yes it has. the difference actually was when i was in the closet and when i came out. it was so easier being out of the closet because i don't have to worry of being found out, but at the same time, have to watch out for those who target gays who are out.
