Take him to a vet- he either has internal parasites or an infection, both of which are usually treatable. If he's still eating on his own, he should be able to make a full recovery, but he needs a vet NOW. There is no way to treat either condition on your own.

The fact that he's eating and drinking is a good sign. It means that there's probably plenty of time for him to recover from what's causing his problems.

One big problem with captive lizards is metabolic bone disease. This could also cause the weakness you're seeing. If your monitor isn't getting some calcium in his diet and has a UV bulb on him during the day, then this could be the problem. While a vet might be able to help with this, it's going to take a vet that REALLY knows what they're doing with reptiles.

Do some calling around and find a vet that not only will see reptiles, but sees them on a fairly regular basis. Just because the vet isn't scared of your monitor doesn't mean they know what the most up-to-date treatments and dosages are.

Having done reptile rescue I have seen cases like this. Sometimes it is a parasite, sometimes the lack of UV, often times the temps are not right. Is your animals looking like it's breathing is labored? Is there a weazing sound? Is it sheding normaly? Keep in mind that decreased daylight can cause your reptile to slow down, cool temps can cause all sorts of bad things to happen to you monitor, food can rot inside of it, respestory problems, etc. Try to find an exotic animal vet.
