you multiply by the reciprocal of one of them. For example:

2/5 divided by 7/13 is the same as 2/5 multiplied by 13/7. For multiplication of fractions you just multiply straigth across, so the answer of the example is 36/35.

Invert one of the fractions and multiply across the board. Then reduce the result to it's lowqest common denominator. In other words 2/3 x 1/8 would be 2/3 x 8/1 = 16/4 or 4/1

Example: (2/3)/(3/4) = (2/3)(4/3) = 8/9

You have been given how, but not why. The example is a big fraction with numerator = 2/3 and denominator = 3/4

When you multiply the denominator 3/4 by its inverse 4/3 you get 1

(3/4)(4/3) = 12/12 = 1

So the denominator disappears if you multiply it by its inverse

In order for a fraction to retain its value, you must then multiply its numerator by the same number

In detail:

[(2/3)(4/3)]/[(3/4)(4/3)] = (8/9)/1

This is why you multiply the numerator by the inverse of the denominator

You have to invert your divisor then multiply:

Like if you have 3/4 divided by 4/5

you invert and multiply so that the problem now becomes

3/4 multiplied by 5/4 then you multipy

which gives you 15/16 as an answer.

multiply the inverse

2/3 / 4/5 to solve multiply the inverse of 4/5 which is 5/4

2/3 x 5/4 2x5=10 3x4=12

10/12 now simplify

the answer is 5/6

Change the division to multiplication.
For example:
2/3 / 4/5
=2/3(5/4)
=10/12
=5/6

The easiest way to do it is to take the denominator fraction (the one on the bottom), flip it upside down and just multiply the two (multiply across the top and across the bottom).

simple, flip the one your dividing by and multiply it. ex:

(1/6) / (2/3) =
(1/6)*(3/2) = (3/12) = (simplified)(1/4)
