DDT, an insecticide that was passed to the eagles through the fish that they eat (dichloro-diphenyl-trichloroethane )

It was claimed that DDT caused this problem.

Subsequent research, along with no such signs in places that still use DDT, have lead to a questioning of those assertions.

Any way you cut it, "Silent Spring" was bad science.
