What are the most fashionable pants to wear other than jeans?

It depends on the age and size of the wearer. Gauchos are a good choice for just about anyone of anysize. The "cigarette pants" (think Audrey Hepburn) which are generally skinnier on the legs are a hip choice right now. However they can be difficult to wear if you're shorter and/or wider on the bottom, so fit is a big issue. Make sure the wearer tries it on first before committing!
A good pair of courduroys are also fashionable. Plain black pants can look good - but can also come with a variety of embellishments so it's not too drab. Pinstripe and tweeds can also look good, but are more dressy. If you do want a more casual look, look for the cropped or bermuda short lengths. In the winter time, paired w/ knee high boots - they are a fashionable but stylish look. All these pants come in a lot of different fabrics and colors, so feel a girl can feel free to have many options.

Personally, I like tan/khaki pants. Boys always look really nice in suits too :o) Pinstripes are my favorite.

In the winter, options are limited if you live in a cold climate, you probably want to stick to jeans, cords or slacks. In the summer, there are capris, clam-diggers etc..

Hmmm...tough one....Label wise, probably Juicy Couture sweat pants, but that's pretty causual. Um, slacks are good.

I have two pair of black silk gaberdine trousers (not shiny...they're gaberdine); one pair cranberry red wool (also gab); one pair red linen; and the rest are khakis and things that can be worn when I'm working, or when don't care how I look!

You mean girls pants or guy pants? Well....for girls...gauchos are in style right now. But if you mean for guys...then I dunno...khakis maybe.
