I want to be a model but my parents hate it they think its not decent and i need an education to live. I understand about the education part though. They always talk about we're from africa and we dont model which is a total lie why don't they let me make my choice? I'm 14, 85 lbs, 5'3 . My friend wants to model too but she weighs more. she's 5'4' 117 lbs.

You're not tall enough. Most models by your age was already like 5'7 and up. I'd listen to my parents. Although being from Africa has nothing to do with it.

heres my thing.. modeling is an experince.. it's your decision on what you want to do for your life.. modeling isn't bad.. however it could change you phyically and/or mentally
because sometime photographers don't understand enough.. sometimes your too big when your weight is like 100 or sometimes your too small when you 98 I'm just throwing out numbers but you know there not decided.. secoundly depending on what you believe and how comfortable you feel.. they might want to take nude pictures.. I think that's what alot of parents fear because that would make a young person or older person start think that they have the attention that they feel sexy which is right and wrong because yes we want you to feel good about yourself just not that way.. plus it chances on how you think making decisions without thinking.. guys can really play with your mind

over all your still young, sweetie your only 14.. I'm 22 I know what I want now.. but you will change your mind all the time and if it's still what you want to do when you 21 go for it.. then your parents don't have a say.. but your parents only do whats right for you because it's out of love trust..

NO! I think that it would be a fun job IF you want to do it AND you would show your parents that this could PAY FOR your education by putting back 15% of every paycheck. You can always decide that you don't want to take a job if it is indecent in your opinion. One of my friend's daughters made a lot of money by modelling. Go online and find the average modelling paycheck to show your parents. Find the cost of a six-year degree and see how much money they have to finance your education at this time. It is likely that they will not have much more than this in 4 more years. Have a great holiday!!

You can try, but be realistic. Very few girls actually make it as models, and right now you are pretty short, you might grow some, but remember that they prefer most models to be tall. Just work hard in school and have another career choice in mind that you might enjoy if the modeling doesn't work out. As far as your parents, do the right thing and show them how responsible you can be. You are still really young and I know it sucks to hear it, but parents really do know best. See if you can talk them into letting you test the waters, but let them know it's only to see what happens and that you understand it might not be what you end up doing as a career. Good Luck.

You're at a good figure to model. According to you're weight and height and all. But I'd suggest to grow a little more, and gain like 10 more pounds because, models are usually a bit more tall. But you guys would make it. Get your education, but modeling can also work around that. Go for it.

Both of you have the ability to model, neither will be successful without your parents full support.

Unless of course you went to school, got a good education, found a good paying job.... THEN start modeling

I agree with your parents. Models are not encouraged to take care of themselves healthwise not to mention the drug culture that seems to go along with it.
Personally I think todays models look sickly and not how a real woman should look at all.

its not a bad decision. I can understand that your parents dont want you to be a model cause they think that you should do something that could probably earn more money. My parents want the same for me so i can have a good life. But i think its totally up to you. You live your life. besides, you dont have to listen to your parents ( i mean like making a decision, not doing bad things).

ok my friend is about your age and shes 82 pounds. she eats like crazy but just wont gain. if that's your case then ok. if its not...EAT. and the modeling is up to u and your parents not us. if thats what you want to do then do it. but i wouldn't say that's the best idea because you can only model until your about 25-28. then what will you do for the rest of your life?? work at burger king?

i don't think its a bad decision to WANT to be a model, but you technically have a long time to decide what you want to do. don't throw away your secondary education, because if that fails, then you'll have nothing to fall back on.
