The best book I read in the past year was "The Naked and the Dead by Norman Mailer.He wrote it when was 25. It was published in May1948and was a huge best seller.In my opinion it is the best novel ever written about World War II.The war scenes are excellent but what makes the book great is the insight into human nature in time of war.It is excellently written and crafted.I would highly recommend it.

I read a lot of good books this year, but one that suprised me because I knew nothing about it or the author and bought it on a whim was "The Mockingbird's Daughter," it turned out to be reminiscent of the style of Gabriel Garcia Marquez, but not so much that it was simply a lesser copy of the Nobel prize winner or a good homage. It was really good in and of itself.

i have read lots of good books. here are some of my all time favorites: Pendragon 8th Quillan games, Peter and the Shadowthieves, Bartimeus, and some other book but i cant remember... but i would have to say that my best book in the past year is the whole book series of Pendragon!!!!!!!
