Automobile is very general so I would like to know the above except with the word automobile replaced "compact car" and "SUV". What I means by "electrical components" is the parts of the car that either use or are run by electricity. Forget the lights, i'm talking abou things that my affect or are related to the engine or things that make cars move or help control the way they move.

Thanks ahead of time.

Too board a subject: some cars have the pcm in the pass compartment other under the hood some left side some right side . You'll need to buy a book on the car or truck your working on to pin point stuff. Just too many part and places and too many makers with too many models.

Ignition system: contact points, high voltage coil, distributor, spark plugs. Starter system: battery, starter contactor, starter motor. Charging system: generator or alternator, controller for same. Engine cooling fan (on older cars, these are directly engine-driven, but newer ones are electric). Engine control computer: has sensors for timing, oxygen level, air pressure and temperature, accelerator position, and various other things. Body control computer: handles lights, windshield wipers, turn signals, door latches, and similar functions. Air bag system. And probably a few more that at the moment escape me.

U must be talking about the brain, its the maine computer which controlls switches and components on the engine. some things like switches can also be controlled by vacuum. p.s. the computer is usually in behind the glove compartment.
