no..deff. not an excuse for being mean or inappropriate..i like honest answers, even if they sting sometimes..but there is a very distinct line between being honest and helpful and just mean spirited.

No... Just because the truth hurts sometimes doesn't make honesty a cover up or excuse for being mean. The truth is the truth... Some people can handle it and some can't.
And oh yeah, the Santa hat's not too bad.

OHHH! I have a friend who does that. Thankfully not to people she's close to, but it's still nasty. She once told a guys new girlfriend that he cheated on his last girlfiend. Trouble ensued, she pulls out the "i was just being honest, i'm not gonna lie" speel.
I thought she must have rocks in her head. I think we all know deep down no one wants the raw truth, and shame on those who feel they have to provide it.

not really, it kinda implies that the person you said it to isn't. And that's kinda mean. Not really a good way to make someone feel better. Try saying...maybe...sorry...
