You need a conflict. Talking someone off a ledge, fighting over the winning lottery ticket, being caught in an adulterous situation, firing someone, quitting your job.

Find your situation and the play can write itself.

Good luck!

Three people are washed ashore on a deserted island -- two men and one woman. One of the men and the woman quickly begin an affair. It is now six months later. The woman calls a meeting and tells her present paramour that she is no longer in love with him. The guy left out figures this will be an opportunity for him. But she says she wants nothing to do with either of them. The ex-boyfriend is devastated. Despite the woman's declaration that she wants neither of them, the other guy is filled with hope and begins courting her. At first, she is resistant. But in these new circumstances, she begins to see emerge a more vibrant person than she had assumed he was. This revelation proves stimulating to her and she begins to subtly encourage the other guy. The ex walks away from the group. And the girl and the other guy feel liberated.

An interesting idea I've used before...

Try combining pre-existing characters from classic plays. I recently used the "Laura" from The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams and "Medea" from Medea by Euripides. Conflict was Laura had her purse stolen, and Medea got it back for her. Conversation ensued over Laura's inability to stand up for herself.

This is a great concept because by already using established characters, you've already got background information to work off of, and it's easier to find a conflict to use for the two. The hardest part (in my opinion) is trying to find how they would perchance meet! But, it's also a great opportunity to show new sides to the characters that you feel the previous playwright might have missed...

BEST WISHES!!!

Just write about yourself, the person in your life who annoys you the most, and the girl you like! This will be the easiest.
Oh, ok, just 10 minutes: Somebody finding out some startling or life-changing piece of info / news, or facing a difficult heart-wrenching decision.

Try giving only one or two of the three characters any lines. The nonspeaking characters will have to convey what they are thinking with their body language and position on stage, and the speaking character(s) will be free to say just about anything they want to say.

Start in the middle. If you only have 10 minutes cut right to the chase.

depending on if you need this asap, write about your own life and how disappointed you were when you found out your dad was Santa, that way you will have three characters: you, your mom, and dad AND your dad as Santa! it will be original and cute.
