I will turn 18 in about a month and I need to look for bank account so I can saving my money there. I also would like to have national bank where I will have bank account stays here in CA and use money in NY while I am in college (in the NY). Moreover, I would like to have a bank that provides debit card (NOT credit card!) and bank that has totally excellence service for student...well not totally excellence, but good enough ya know???

I used Chase/Bank One bank throughout my college years. I graduated May '06. My friends used Fifth Third, and they had very little to no problems with it. I don't know if 5/3rd had debit cards or not, I'm sure they would have to.

you might want to vistit the schools and see what banks are near it. i'm with wachovia because it's the closest bank to my campus and it's also the closest bank to my home. other's you might want to look at if they are in the area are bank of america, washington mutual, sun national. i don't know about their services, but you can look all that up online.

wachovia has free student checking that comes with a savings account if you choose it. you also get a visa checkcard, which is a debit card.
