So, you know the pop ups that say "You've just won a free _____"? Well, I heard about this one that actually works for winning this free gizmo thing. So I put in my address and phone number, email, etc. on a whim. It turned out to be another one of those scams. I can't believe I did something so stupid! Please help me with damage control. What can I do?

I'm sorry. It happens to the best of us. The only things you can pretty much do for damage control would be download a Spyware program and run a scan. I highly recommend downloading SpyBot, which is free.
Also, it would be a good idea to create an e-mail account only for junk e-mail. Use this account whenever you think that you might be signing up for something that could bring you spam. This will protect your main account.
When you start getting those spam e-mails, simply click on "Unsubscribe" and they should take you off their list. Hope this helps, and good luck :D

Yeah, those things install spyware, adware, viruses, etc. Also the purpose of getting your email address and phone is to send you crap, you will be flooded with phone calls, junk mail, and junk email, just ask em to be added to your no call list, Go to the bottom of the emails and click the link to unsubscribe, and cant really do anything about mail, As for the spyware and adware and viruses, get the freedom suite or some other programs to help with that. Good luck!, and damn, john beat me to it!

Run an adware scan and dispose of any adware. Also if ou recieve any e-mails from them, block the email by using filtering or click to un-subscribe.
