A prime number is a whole number that can not be divided by any other whole number (obviously, excluding the number 1 because any number can be divided by 1).
So -- can you divide 7 by any other whole number? Yes? No?
If you can, then it isn't a prime number. If you can't, it is.

ah yea duh. prime numbers are numbers that only have the factors of one and itself. so what other than 7 and 1 go into 7???? nothing...so yes it is a prime number
