Work hard. I'm 33 and let me tell you, it doesn't get any easier. Being in debt is the worst feeling in the entire world. You're better off driving old crappy cars, living on beans and rice, and starting out on the right foot than getting in a bunch of debt right off the bat. Work hard and save those vacation days and then take a nice vacation in a few years when you can actually afford it. (Easier said than done, I know.)

Work hard in the kind of job you love, money will follow.
Do not use credit cards, save as much as you can, get a financial planner to guide you.Invest in Real Estate.
There might not be enough funds in Social Security when you reach age of retirement to make a decent lifestyle. Financial security in old age is a blessing. Visit retirement homes in your area and you''ll learn a lot from those folks mistakes.

at high school if you can remember which kids seemed happier, the straight A students with 4.0 averages that always did their homwork, or the C and D range students that were always out hanging with friends and getting into trouble?

In the end, (or near the end) you'll regret the things that were not done and/or not said. So, do what your brain tells you is right for you. Everybody is different.
