Siberian Huskies are not supposed to be over protective and are supposed to be friendly. My huskie, however, is over protective and is sometimes friendly. She doesnt like strangers(I cant bring friends home) and sometimes i pet her and shes fine with it but then all of a sudden she starts knawing on my hand.. Another thing is that I take her outside to do her business and she pees and then we go back inside..Once were inside she takes a crap INFRONT OF ME! Does anyone know what I should do?

Her behavior is common in a huskie that thinks it's dominant. They're renound as an independant breed that needs a strong boss to follow, the pooping in the house is a definate slap in the face, and the aggressive behavior is probably because she thinks SHE'S in charge and therefore it's her job to protect the house. You're right, breed standard for them is absolutely non-violent.

For someone like you, who isn't sure about what these behaviors mean, I wouldn't take the advice of anyone on here about trying to correct them yourself. You should get some experienced help in learning how to interact with your dog in a healthy, and efficient way. By no means drop your dog off at puppy-school and leave, you need to work together to become a team (with YOU as the leader of the pack).

It sounds like you've got a bit of a handful there! First question to ask is whether or not you received papers with your husky. If you didn't, there is a chance that she's not a purebred, and there is also the chance that there was some inbreeding involved in her bloodline. That could answer your temperment issue with her. Another thing to consider is her age and how much you worked with her and socialized her as a puppy. If she wasn't well socialized during the first 15 weeks, then that may also be your problem. A dog that has not been properly socialized will display some temperment problems when it comes to new people and places. Your dog's problem with going potty in your house is something you can help solve. When she wizzes outside, don't immediately bring her back in. Stay outside with her until she relieves herself with a poo. Praise her warmly for this, and she'll eventually catch on. The gnawing on your hand I don't know about. You may want to consult a trainer or canine behaviourist about it, or look for books that may be of help in your local bookstore.
Hope I've been of some help to you! Best of luck with your Siberian!

You didn't say how old she is. I am guessing you didn't take her to obedience classes or do any kind of training or socialization with her, and this is an all too common result. While obedience classes might be a starting point, if you are having aggression problems with her, you need to find a good dog trainer to work with the two of you. She has assumed the role of alpha dog because you have let her. You can't bring friends home??? Who pays the rent, her or you??? You need to find a trainer who can help put you back on top, so the two of you can live in harmony with you as the top dog, not her. Good Luck!!

I use to breed animals and have you tried rewards. Treats is a good way to get the dog to do what you want. Also the dog could be simply not finish when you bring her inside. Go to the Siberian website and get additional information. www.siberianhusky.com

Take her to obedience school. Also, make a dog run in your yard if you can so that she will be able to stay out long enough by herself to use the bathroom. The overprotectiveness can be worked on in obedience training.

Correct her with a firm voice, try making her stay outside by herself for a while. Dogs love to be instructed, and to be obedient but they must first be tought.

You must train her..be authoritative, assertive and demand results as "pack leader".
You must be patient as results won't occur over a week ,but gradually over months if you remain consistant.
Watch the t.v. show named Dog Whisperer..they always show these types of behavioral issues an resolutions..it airs on animal planet and the national geo. station check your local listings.

Leave her outside longer to crap and when she does, praise her and tell her good girl. Also try taking her to obedience school.
