Her and an 18 yr old girl friend have been fighting for a week. The other girl was staying at our house for about a month ( and they work together)before they got in the fight, and she moved out. My daughter told me that she had found out that she started doing drugs and that she didn't want to be around it or have anything to do with it. (It's pretty bad stuff!!!) My daughter was upset that she brought it into our home and that she wasn't going to be around her if that was what she wanted for her life. They got into a yelling match and went there own ways. Now, the other girl says that she may loose her job because my daughter is telling every one (that asks) we she had to move out. My daughter tells them the truth, She was doing drugs and i don't want anything to do with it and she picked that over our friendship.
The 18 yr. old says that if she (my child) keeps telling people that she's a druggie- that she will sue her for slander. That her dads lawyer is ready and waiting?

I don't know if it's true, but my daughter was very upset and i didn't find out about any of it till after the fact. If my 15 yr. old is sued for slander, wouldn't the other girl have to prove (by a drug test) that it wasn't true???and would we have to pay for the test??? It's so dumb!!!! Yes, telling her to shut her mouth is the easy way, but now she is so mad. She's 15---- they don't know how to shut up!!!! LOL

First of all, if it comes to court, request the girl undergo a hair test. This will be able to prove that she is in fact doing some kind of drugs. Then there won't be a case left after that finding. Good Luck. Not to worry, I don't believe that any court would rule teenage troubles as slander anyhow. If they did, they would have millions of teens suing daily and crowding the courts with the gossip and battles.

shes blwoing hot air. when people are painted into the corner, they alwasy blow hot air. So what if her dad is a "lawyer' well, her lawyer dad didn't do much to help her with her drug habits.

if its true, its not slander. YOu can demand that she takes a drug test. that stuff stays in your system for 6 months and demand they do it by Blood and by taking a sample of the hair. Urine drug tests can be falible.

The Truth is an absolute defense to defamation of character (slander). If you have any evidence, including her admission of drug use, then being sued will be thrown out of court. And yes, if she sues it will open up all opportunity attack her character on any and all grounds. Her drug abuse admission, or witness evidnce in court, may even lead to charges and investigation against her!

First, you're maximum impressive. there isn't any longer something incorrect with being gay or bisexual. you've made it sparkling that you've advised your daughter this. If she hasn't replied yet, then she both isn't gay or bi, or purely doesn't sense mushy chatting with you about it. purely as there isn't any longer something incorrect with being gay/bi, there isn't any reason she ought to percentage her sexuality with you. 2d, you want to end annoying about being your daughter's pal and initiate being her be certain. You reported that your daughter has different themes that require counselling. if that is the case, then you favor to stress her to settle for the help she needs, in spite of ways she feels about it or you. Parenting isn't pleasant, even with the undeniable fact that it truly is needed. Do your daughter a want. Ease up about her sexuality and stick with three extra stress to resolving her anger themes.

Not to worry, if it's true, it's not slander. It just sounds like she is upset your daughter told other's about her problem. She sounds like an imature teenage girl if you ask me, trying to threaten your daughter.

truth is a complete defense against a claim of slander.

don't worry.

In fact, if the plaintiff's lawyer brings suit knowing that the truth was told, the lawyer could be liable for malicious prosecution.

Your daughter needs to learn to respect others' privacy. Although it is unlikely that she would be sued, if she keeps badmouthing people - whether it's true or not is irrelevant - she'll probably end up getting beaten up in the parking lot.

If you can prove that it's true, then they don't have a case. Slander has to be false.

If it is true, than don't worry. If your daughter is talking smack, bet the check book out. Anyway, the other girl is gone, tell your daughter to shut her pie hole.
