11 year old CHRISTmas gift?

i'm doing a mystery santa for christmas. i got an 11 year old boy who wants a cd player along with rap cd's. however, rap music today is horrible, so i'm thinking of conscious rap. such as common, talib kweli, mos def, etc. any suggestions as to what cd/artist i should get him?

maybe you can get him a gift certificate for like best buy or something so he can pick out his own cd's.
