Food is consumed and processed in the digestive-system. The digestive-system converts food (carbohydrates particularly) into sugar. This sugar is then combined with oxygen carried from the lungs in red blood cells through the circulatory system. This oxygen is used to create ATP. Within the cell, ATP is split into ADP. This chemical reaction creates the energy used by cells. This process, called respiration, results in the production of water and carbon dioxide. This is carried back to the lungs and exhaled.

Red blood cell pick up oxygen from the lungs, and transport it to every cell in the body. At the same time, CO2 is removed from these cells and transported back to the lungs (exhalation). Thats the simple 25 cent tour.

Simply go to wikipedia (web encyclopedia). Type in whatever you need to know about.

The body works on many forms of fuels, oxygen, sunlight, food, water, etcetera. Go to wekipedia that's my best advice.
