No. It's simply a matter of definition. "Murder" is killing that's not "ok."

Killing in war: ok.
Killing in self-defense: ok.
Killing out of mercy, as in euthanasia: potentially ok.

Society sanctions all of these things to some degree. "Murder" is a word we use for killing that occurs beyond societal boundaries. It is never ok to commit murder, because murder is, by definition, killing that is NOT OK. If it were ok, then it wouldn't be murder; it would be something else.

In the legal sense of the word murder, it might be possible for a killing to be illegal (murder or manslaughter) and still "ok" in a moral sense -- provided that you believe the law is wrong. Doctors have been prosecuted for euthanizing patients, for example. But if you believe that euthanasia is a good thing, then you also believe that doctors who do it are not murderers. The legal vs. moral meanings of the word are sometimes distinct.

Murder is a word probably derived from culture and different ethical beliefs. I believe murder is the malicious intent to consume another life without reason or for profit for oneself.
I'll quote the words from someone else ''kill one person, you're a murder, kill many you're a conqueror, kill them all you're a god.''

Three reasons ''why or why not?''

1. Killing in the defense of your country and political reasons, such as foreign conflict, war, and capital punishment, is ok....(?)

2. Killing in the defense of the lives of your family or the weaker. Morally in my opinion is justified, but is punishable in the U.S.

3. Killing another that preys on children or on our helpless, most experienced elders. Morally in my opinion is justified, but is also punishable in the U.S.

Our judicial system, at times, are too easy on the predators of children and our families. And way too harsh for other crimes that are committed. Beliefs and practices were different just 50 years ago, what will they be like fifty from now?

Mercy killing, and mercy murder????

Euthanasia, is not murder, but a way for another not to commit suicide.
If a compromised individual is of serious physical danger to others, In my opinion, they should be "put away" and remembered for their qualities. "Put away" could mean killing that individual but I couldn't do it. That fifty years ago I'd take them far away and leave them, sounds harsh but I couldn't kill them by my own hand.

I would say that it depends. If that person is a serious threat and by non killing the person you would inevitably cause more lives to be lost, I would say that commiting murder would be alright, however, out of context, I would say a very strong NO!

Murder is probably never a good thing. Forgiveness can't ever cater for all eventualities but I don't think murder can ever really be justified.

I would say it's occasionally justified [eg: self defence], but never OK.
