You obviously don't feel very strongly on it if you don't have any good points.

I suppose the first point to come up is the subject of love...and build off of that.

The issue that many seem to miss is that this whole topic is really two in one: There's a religious aspect to the issue, obviously, and there's also an economic or political aspect. Politically and economically, ideally, there should be no difference at all. Sadly, exclusion (especially of African-Americans) has been ingrained into this culture for an extremely long time; it took what, 100 years AFTER the Civil War for a real civil rights movement? That's horrific!

Religiously/morally, however, it's quite difficult and I think that this is where the fires will begin over this issue. Realistically, no one is going to convince anyone else to change their morals, -especially- if they are embedded in religious beliefs. I have many friends who disagree with me on my religious views, and they also believe that GLTBs should not be allowed to marry. That's fine with me - they have their beliefs, and I have my own, and it's not right for either of us to push our beliefs onto the other.

Just because someone is more or less exclusionary doesn't make them wrong - it means that they have a different opinion, which is what this nation was founded upon.

In short: Call it civil union or call it marriage, but I don't see any reason that they shouldn't receive the same political and economic benefits as everyone else.

First off, it shouldn't be marriage. Marriage is a religious union that is legally recognized. You should name it something else, or just call it gay union. Next, you should compare a GOOD marriage between a man and a woman to a GOOD union between a man and a man or a woman and a woman. Don't bash straight marriage. You should focus on the similarities between the homosexual union and the heterosexual marriage. Once you've established how these two things can be the same, you should then discuss how homosexual unions would be beneficial like marriages are if they are legally recognized.

The 1047 (numbers change by state) rights that are guaranteed under the marriage agreement. are dnied to homosexual unions.

The hospital visitation rights incase one's partner is in the ER. Since same-sex partners are not considered immediate family, most of the times the Hospitals deny one to visit their life partners or make critical decisions for their partner incase of an emergency.

Tax-breaks that are given to "married" couples are denied to same-sex unions.

These just a few points that popped up right now.

When a couple have been together in a committed relationship and something happens to one of them the other partner has no rights.

No right to visit in a hospital....not right to medical information...no right to decide what happens if there's a death.

I'm hetrosexual but to me that's just very wrong. Love is love.

Well I am not married so I do not know if really truthfully with my whole heart answer this question but one thing I do know about marraiges. I just did a report about AIDS and one of the main reasons people have AIDS is b/c they do not try to prevent it. Unsafe sex is the #1 way to spread AIDS from one person to the next. Gay marraiges are not the thing to do, do it safely with condoms for vaginal and anal sex. That is all I have to say, maybe when I start to think about marraige I will have more to write. Just curious how many people agree with me about unsafe sex??

because it's not fair? because partners aren't able to share health care, get into hospitals if the person is dieing unless you are family, because they want to start familes and they WANT to be married. because it is a bond and a piece of paper open to other heterosexual idiots, why not gays?

My brother has a man crush on Chad Kroeger from Nickelback, so I told his wife I thought he was gay and downloaded 47 different pictures of Chad to my brother's mypictures directory. He swears to his wife he doesn't know how they got there...but I do. It has caused a bit of a problem for them.
