You and the baby should be fine as long as you STOP now!
You body needs proper nourishment now more than ever, so you need to eat a lot of fresh fruit, vegetables, milk and lean meat such as boneless skinless chicken breasts. Also take a pre-Natal vitamin and it is vital you start taking Folic acid 1-2mg daily (talk to doctor or a pharmacists about dosage) Folic acid helps prevent neural tube defects in the baby.
Smoking pot, cigarettes, drinking and any and all drugs deplete your body of nutrients the baby and you need! Stop now for both your sakes. I smoked cigarettes before I got pregnant and stopped within the first 4 weeks. I have never gone back, and I feel sooo very much better and I am setting a good example for my child. You can do it!

this is for the idiots who think it is ok to smoke anything while pregnant. I have nothing against pot smokers who do it away from children, enjoy, but to make that unhealthy choice for someone else who can't speak for themselft is beyond STUPID and beyond SELFISH!!!!!!!!!! I do not smoke pot but I have a lot of friends who do! They all quit while pregnant and do not expose their children to it!
I agree some people here should not be so harsh on this young lady and bless her for having some common sense. BUT you people who promote it are worse!
Here is a line for you with a link not promoted by pot heads!

As for researched answers I include myself! I have a degree in Biology and have studied the effects of this drug on individuals and on the fetus! It is not good PERIOD!

Is it safe to smoke marijuana during pregnancy?

Question: Is it safe to smoke marijuana during pregnancy?

Answer: No. Smoking marijuana during pregnancy may affect your baby's growth and the development of his nervous system. Studies have shown that children who were exposed to marijuana during pregnancy sometimes have problems focusing their attention and solving problems.

Children of heavy pot users may also have problems with short-term memory, concentration, and judgment. (There's no evidence so far, however, that marijuana use during pregnancy causes attention deficit hyperactivity disorder). null

One study even found that young children whose mothers smoked marijuana during pregnancy had a higher risk of leukemia than those whose mothers did not.

What's more, there's no way to know if the pot you're smoking has been laced with other drugs (such as PCP) or contaminated with pesticides, which would put your baby at even higher risk. And using marijuana increases the chance that your baby will have birth defects if you're also drinking alcohol or smoking tobacco.

If you smoked pot before you realized you were pregnant, don't panic. The chance that your baby has been affected is very small. Still, it's important to be honest with your practitioner about your previous use of pot and other recreational drugs. She may want to run some extra tests to be sure your baby is developing normally.

When I was 2 weeks pregnant, I went camping with some friends and got really drunk and really high. I didn't know I was pregnant at the time.

I freaked as soon as I found out I was pregnant and got really, really worried that I had caused damage to the baby. I talked to my doctor and she said that the one time wouldn't have caused harm. My baby was born completely healthy. She's now 10 months and she's actually advanced for her age.

So basically if you smoked before you found out you were pregnant, then don't stress it. Just make sure you stop immediately. Many women don't find out they're pregnant until they are 6-8 weeks and become worried that they smoked and drank before they found out. AS long as it's stopped asap, your baby should be fine.

For peace of mind, talk to your doctor. It saved me a lot of stress after my doc reassured me that they baby would be ok.

Every time I see this question I groan. Most of the answers will be from people who want to scare or punish you and don't really know anything about the subject.

The correct answer is: The chances are slim and none.

Think about it. Marijuana has been smoked by tens of millions of people in the US over the last several decades, including millions of pregnant women. In addition, in places like Jamaica, pregnant women sometimes smoke throughout their entire pregnancy -- at a rate that has been estimated to be up to 28 times what a typical American would consume. If marijuana did any serious harm to babies, we would see an epidemic already.

The bottom line is that there is little evidence that marijuana has much lasting effect on babies -- even when it is consumed for the entire pregnancy.

Stop worrying. Take care of your health and nutrition for the rest of the pregnancy and you and your baby will be fine.

Keep in mind that the placena filters most impurities. Additionally, marijuana does not cause birth defects or fetal injury. There is some speculation that chronic (pun intended) pot smoking during pregnancy can lead to mild attention deficit in the child later in life, but there is no scientific evidence to back that claim.

it can affect your baby. But some people dont know that they are pregnant until they are about 6-8 weeks, so they cant help what they did. but since you know my advice is to quit, because it can be VERY harmful to your child.

Doing it once probably didn't cause any serious damage, but don't do it again under any circumstances!!! Cannabis is one of the safest and loveliest substances on earth, but it should never be taken while pregnant.
