You can wash colors with whites as long as you're careful. I always use Clorox 2 and a color catcher (they're made by Shout, I think) to help pick up any dye that could possibly bleed onto the whites.
I only do this with cotton clothes like T-shirts and athletic shorts, though. Mixing dark-washed denims with whites are a bad idea unless you want pale blue clothes!

No because your white clothes will turn out gray or an odd color
the dyes in the colored cloths will wash off onto the whites.and the dirt from the colored will too

no you can't for the reason that the color of the colored clothes will give colors to the white clothes even if you only use pure detergent

Of course you can. I do it all the time. I just separate the whites every few washes to bleach them. Just don't wash sheets and towels with clothes. They need hot water to remove body oils.

i would only do it with light colored clothes. Definitely no red, dark blues, blacks, or denim.
