The battery of my Toyota Camry died. I purchased one of those Instant Jumpstarting Power Station things (like this one, I think: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/INSTANT-JUMPSTARTING-POWER-PRO-PWR-STATION_W0QQitemZ160045110742QQcmdZViewItem)

The instructions stay connect the black negative clamp to the engine block, cylinder head or other heavy stationary metal engine part?

What does that mean? How do I know what is the engine block, cyliner head or other heavy stationary metal engine part? Help!

Thanks!

I wanted to thank everyone who took the time to answer my questions. It actually was VERY easy to jump start the car. I easily found a place for the negative clamps. I was worried unncessarily. Easy!

Clamp it to a bracket or bolt that directly mounts to the body or engine.

if your neg batt terminal is not convenient to use then clamp it to a frame part or something that's attached to the body of the car for ground and if that doesn't help an its a stick get some help pushing it on a downward hill type driveway or street and with key on put the gear selector in 2nd and "POP" the clutch and it should start up for ya just dont run over your friends that are helpin and be prepared to stop it with the clutch in as to keep it runnin not kill it or you ll be pushin it again P.S buy a new battery from Summer to winter and winter to summers batteries cant take the change after a while 2-3 yrs and the "will " fail they cant take the extremes after a while.... hrpuffnstff1186

My buddy had this very identical situation along with his 03 camry after leaping an older 02 mannequin honda civic. The trader knowledgeable him that the rationale will have been from the polarity of the useless battery reversing itself on the grounds that it used to be soo useless, or the individual attaching the cables did so incorrectly. But your situation will have to be greater than included through guarantee as my buddy's automobile used to be. Yes, you'll be able to mostly bounce begin some thing besides for the gap travel along with your camry. Hope I helped you. Jeremy

follow the black cable from your battery to the engine ( big greasy thing under the hood ) and clamp it there , first though clamp on the positive terminal , your car should have a rubber insulator on the pos. post , push that aside and clamp the red on there , then black to the engine , (away from the belts ) and with your back to the battery turn the unit on , start the car , shut the booster off and remove the cables . very rarely battery's explode , hence the turn your back bit , good luck you can do it.

It means you know very little about engines. And I don't mean for that to sound mean spirited, there are lots that don't know. Find a friend that can show you how or call a tow company for a service call and watch what they do.

I wish you well.
