Well on my laptop i can log onto the school's official website at my house, but when i am at the school i cannot, what is the reason for this

If you are able to access a site but it look different to the site from home then the servers are prob redirecting you to an intranet rather than the internet.

Mostly likely because most schools and a lot of jobs employ restrictions on where you can surf. There also could be firewall issues as well.
