All of them, they're great!.

But for a modern girl, go with The Color Purple.

If you like romance, choose Pride and Prejudice, but it might not be as easy-going in terms of the language as the other two. Both The Invisible Man and The Color Purple deal with some complex issues such as race more obviously, but The Color Purple is also a book about gender. The Color Purple might be more interesting to you.

I really enjoyed Pride and Prejudice. It is my favorite of the three. But I also enjoyed the Invisible Man. It is probably the longest of the three. It was good. But it didn't become my new favorite book or anything. The Color Purple was good as well. But I liked the other two more. Why don't you try reading the first chapter of each and see which one interests you most?

Hands down - Invisible Man (assuming you're talking about Ralph Ellison's novel).

If you are, it's an incredible read; just the idea behind the narrative is amazing. Plus, it's occassionally comical and it has a very "real" feeling to it - it might be a little more engaging than Austen's P&P simply because of the language, but I don't know about The Color Purple. Either way, good luck!

If you're not - sorry!

I LOVE pride and prejudice. Jane Austen is the fairy godmother of all chick-lit and funnier than most people give her credit for. The Color Purple is really good too, but I would have to say definitely Pride and Prejudice.

If you get a chance why not read all three. But if you have to choose a book for a book report I suggest you read The Invisible Man.

They are all very good books, but I would have to say that you should read "The Color Purple". I think that there is a lot more to be learned from Alice Walker's work. I think that the relationships and characters in Walker's work are richer and more complex than those in Ellison's and Austen's novels.
