Chad Johnson... can't stop him

My quick answer is Steve Smith. Last year he led the NFL is receptions, yards and touchdowns - the triple crown. This year he missed 2 weeks with an injury but is still in the top 10 in all categories.

But, I think it depends on who the quarterback is for the wide receiver. To me, Steve Smith is the best. He has not had one of the best quarterbacks throwing to him. His quarterback is Jake Delhomme who has the 17th highest QB rating. Not very good. If Smith had Peyton Manning, Drew Brees or Carson Palmer throwing to him, his stats would be far better and he would be as dominant as LaDanian Tomlinson is at running back.

Other wide receivers who are excellent that do not have a good quarteback: Javon Walker, Anquan Boldin, Roy Williams, Antonio Bryant.

When you take into account the quarterback, a good wide receiver's stats can be top notch. A good example is Reggie Wayne. He is very good, but not great. He is not as talented as Steve Smith. But Manning throws to him so he is 2nd overall is receiving yards after Chad Johnson. Even Harrison has been great partly because Manning is throwing to him.

So, I think Steve Smith is the most talented, followed by Chad Johnson. After that there are about 10 guys who are very talented, Harrison, Wayne, Boldin, Williams, Bryant, Terrell Owens, Javon Walker, Donald Driver, Torry Holt, Andre Johnson and maybe Plaxico Burress.

Of that lot, I'd put Roy Williams as 3rd best. Look at his stats. He plays for a terrible team with a mediocre quarterback (rated 27th) and he is 3rd overall in receiving yards. If he played with Peyton Manning, Carson Palmer or Drew Brees his stats would be #1 and out of this world.

The best rookie wide receiver by far is Marques Colston.

The best tight end receiver by far is Antonio Gates.
