It's free. You will need the Wi-Fi adapter (the one that you can use on the DS) if you don't have wireless connection. The Wi-FI adapter connections to your computer's USB and it makes a wireless connection between your computer and your Wii.

If you live in a city that offers free wi-fi connection, then you don't need the USB adapter.

The Wi-Fi is built into the Wii.. So it's free when you buy the console..

But you need a WIRELESS ROUTER to get it on the net OR a wireless Wii adapter that plugs into your computer's USB port. But your computer might not be compatible with the adapter, so check.

I don't think it will take over your phone line unless you are using dial up and using the computer's adapter.

If you don't have a wireless device that connects to the internet such as a wireless router then you need to buy the wireless adapter for your computer for around 30$...

Or if you have a Nintendo DS you can also use that to get unto the net.

you're able to no longer boost your Wii's instantaneous signal purely by reality your Wii isn't transmitting the signal. Your instantaneous USB adapter is. regrettably, i do no longer imagine of you're able to boost the signal...you're able to favor to purpose transferring your Wii closer to the USB/workstation. you will get a router, once you've more effective effectual than one instantaneous device. Netgear routers with with "prolonged type," so that you would use to make the signal more effective effectual at a distance.
