I put it in a jar filled with water. I gave it some frozen peas but it isn't eating them. Its shell is black and its limbs are orange. We live near a resaca, and I think it came from there. Does anyone have any advice?

If it looks like a lobster but is smaller, it's probably a crayfish. You could try just taking it back to where it came from.

I wouldn't worry about it not eating just yet.

You found a crayfish all right. look for a small dried mud tube or column at the waters edge. it's more than likely it's home. we have them here in M.D. also. they escaped in the 50's from a farm and went native ! they eat insects ,toads and tad poles and such not peas! HA!
