I don't know what type of budget you have but for our first anniversary last year my husband took me to The Melting Pot. It was a wonderful experience. Each table their has it's own private booth so we felt very private. The waitress was extremely knowledgeable and did not hurry us up at all. The fondue was the best I have ever had! It was great to enjoy all of the food we had and have time to just relax and talk. The dessert was the best I have ever had! They even gave us a complementary toast. We spent about 2 hours there and shared a bottle of champagne. The total bill with tip was about 120 dollars. It the best dining experience we have ever had. There are a couple of locations in Houston. You can visit their website below if you are interested.

For a nice romantic anniversary dinner, I would suggest Truluck's (www.trulucks.com) or Morton's, The Steakhouse (www.mortons.com).

Both restaurants have EXCELLENT food and a very attentive waitstaff.

Trulucks is great if you are looking for great soup, salad, pork chops and crab. If you go, please try the carrot cake. Best by far in Houston!

Mortons! Wow, the steak is so good. But, you get what you pay for. The quality is superb. They also have a really good crab cake and lobster.

You can't go wrong with either of those places.

Another suggestion, but you would have to plan for the weather...is a Dinner Cruise in Kemah. Those are nice and a change from the traditional restaurant.

One other suggestion would be the Great Caruso Dinner Theater on Westheimer (near Gessner) www.houstondinnertheater.com. The food is good (can't lie and say it is the BEST..but it is good)...and the show is always fun.

Hope this helps!

Fogo de Chao is probably the best food in Houston, but not as romantic as other restaurants. You're constantly being interrupted by skewers of food and it can really be distracting during a conversation.

I really enjoyed Benji's (voted best lunch!) for the decor and the delicious food. The staff know more than more waiters I've even met. There's a lot of eclectic food without being unrecognizable.

Great food = go to the Cheesecake Factory in the Galleria. Ambience and great food = go to the castle in the Heights off Ella Blvd. Le Tour d'Argent. Happy Anniversary!

A good place to make a memory would be the Spindle Top Room. It is the revolving (yes it spins) restaurant on top of the downtown Hyatt. They time your meal to where you get a 360 degree view of downtown by the time dessert arrives. It is very reasonably priced with no entree over $40.00 per person.

I think the riverside mall with the boating, shopping and dining attractions is a great place to go for celebrating 1st anniversary.

Well i don't know if you are into wine or the type of environment that you want but i took my girlfriend to "Bank" (that's the name of the restaurant) inside the icon hotel www.Hotelicon.com .
Chef Jean-georges is world renknowned he owns more than 17 different restaurants worldwide and ir ranked top ten chefs in the world.
A little pricy but affordable and really worth it.
Very close to the theater district so maybe have an early dinner and go to theatre after and then come back for dessert.
Congratulations

Oh god, Not Yao's!!! Spindle Top is a great place, or Fogo D' Chao on Westheimer is good too. Maybe you can take her to a little salsa dancing at the Sky Bar on Thurs-its a very nice place.

If you're into game and seafood, try The Rainbow Lodge (Ella at TC Jester). Great food, excellent wine list, romantic ambience.
