The only concern with eggnog is the NON-pasteurized eggs. Thankfully we've come a long way in the commercial food industry. You can buy pasteurized eggs and Eggnog sold in stores is made with... yep you guessed it. Pasteurized eggs.

I myself am 33 weeks pregnant and my Dr. says pasteurized eggnog is perfectly safe. It says right on the carton whether or not it has been pasteurized so there's no guess work there either.

Congratulations on your pregnancy. Don't be shy about talking with your doctor about any questions or concerns you may have. They're there for that very reason!

No, it's really not safe to drink it. "Eggnog typically contains raw eggs, which can sometimes carry germs such as salmonella or toxoplasma gondii. Salmonella is a type of bacteria that can cause food poisoning, and in very rare cases can be fatal (elderly people are most likely to die from eating contaminated eggs, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). Contracting salmonella during pregnancy rarely harms the baby directly, but the high fever, vomiting, diarrhea, and dehydration that accompany a bad case of food poisoning could cause preterm labor or miscarriage. ETC."

I'm assuming your speaking non-alchoholic egg nog... from there... Pasturized egg nog should be ok, but to be safe.. I wouldnt. If you were to get sick from it, it could cause a misscarriage. You also should avoid soft cheeses!

Store bought egg nog is all pasteurized so it is safe.

CBT(current best thinking) says NO! If it's a commercial product and you're sure it's safe from salmonella, then ok, but not the spiked stuff. Otherwise, just say no. To be safe, I'd decline partaking. You can mail your portion to me, I'm not pregnant and I love the stuff!

As long as its pasteurized. I have had it 2 times already several weeks ago. When I drank it , I probably was about 20 weeks along.

no one, not even the un-pregnant should eat or drink anything made with raw eggs, including raw cookie dough, meringue pies etc. Salmonela is not something anyone wants and especially not someone who is pregnant
not to mention the alchol content of egg nog...................
