No. Bettas do not die easily. They are killed by people who do know how to properly care for them.

That being said, you will have the best breeding results if you bettas are happy and healthy. This means clean, warm water. No cups with no filters and no heaters - those are #1 betta killers!

I suggest you set up the male in a 5 to 10 gallon tank, filled 8 inches with warm (80F) water. Filtration should be with a sponge filter, try to make sure that there is not too much surface agitation. Feed him, keep him warm and happy.

Keep the female in a small 3-5 gallon tank. Feed her lots of good foods like betta pellets, brine shrimp, daphnia, blood worms and mosquito larvae. She will fatten up, and you will know she has eggs.

Hopefully your male will have built himself a bubble nest. Put the female in with him and keep a close eye. Some couples just don't get along, and if the male is being too violent you may need to remove her. If all goes well, though, he'll squeeze her with his body, and her eggs will come out. Remove the female at this time.
He will fertilize the eggs and tend to them in the bubble nest.

The eggs will hatch a few days later. When they hatch, remove the male.

You need to feed the babies every few hours. Set up some infusoria (put a piece of potato in some tank water in a jar and let it sit - you'll get lots of yummy micro-fauna grow on that), put some java moss in the tank, feed baby brine shrimp, egg yolk, fry food etc. Keep the water warm. You should also wrap the filter intake with some fine mesh cloth so the babies don't get sucked in. Buy a brine shrimp net, cut out the cloth and use that.

When the babies start showing their colours and their genders, remove them to their own specific small tanks (3/4-1 gallon will do). Make sure your room is warm enough to keep the water at 78-80F.

That's the gist of it. Do some more research. There is a lot of work involved, make sure you're ready for it all :)

i have a betta just ask the people that work in the shop or Does It Seem Like No Matter What You Do, There's Always Something Wrong With Your Betta?
That is a common problem. You see, bettas die easily. And the death of a Betta can be devastatingly sad for those who experience it. Your friends just don't understand that it's not "just a fish." It's your baby that you loved and looked after with all your heart.

I have experienced this all too well myself.

Ever want to see how many people give up on the hobby of keeping bettas (and fish in general)? Check out your local newspaper's classifieds. There'll be tanks and aquariums for sale -- and maybe even fish themselves.

It's just one thing after another. Eventually what was once a fun, relaxing hobby... becomes a big headache having to deal with one health issue after another. And the worst part about it is that it's not your fault, because you did the best you could!

That's why I provide a complete Troubleshooting Guide that will list every symptom of illness. It then reveals what the possible causes of the symptoms are -- then tells you what exactly to do about them. It's like having your own fish expert right there at your beck and call. No matter what the problem is you're having -- and no matter what time of day -- the expert is right there to take you by the hand and help you.

You can breed them when ever but you need a perfect or nearly perfect couple and a few plants (fake or live) so the female can hide from the male and a tank of your choice you cant have rocks!! because the female will get beat up from getting chased around by the male then when the time if right the male makes the female go under his nest and he wraps around her then you have eggs the male gathers them in his mouth and places them in to his nest then 1-2 days later you have little baby Betta fry!!
good luck !!!!

If your betta starts to make a lot of bubbles that dont pop a tthe top he is ready. scoop a little out to urge him to make a bigger bubble "nest" . Buy a female and put her in HIS tank. he will nip at her a little this is normal. then he will kinda mount her from the side as she lays eggs and he fertilizes them. leave them there for a toal of 10 minutes then remove the FEMALE. the male will take care of the eggs. he will take them in his mouth time to time and wash them. eventually his saliva will change chemically and will dissolve the outer shell of the eggs the "krill" will be very small. remove the male after the eggs hatch. the "krill" will grow much better in an outdoor pond sorta thing. make sure there ar eno fish to eat the babies. the babies will eat the little pluektrons and grow at about 11 weeks they should be close to full grown

not likely the superb set up. Tiger barbs get to be 3" and might desire to be saved in faculties of 6+. so which you does not have plenty room for the different fish. besides they're nippy. Clown loach gets way too vast on your tank. they are able to get to be 12" yet they're slow growers. that could desire to furnish you time to enhance. yet they might desire to have pals around. 3 or extra. attempt this. a million Clown pleco a million perspective fish 2 yoyo loaches (in undemanding terms get 3") 7 danios ( I personaly do in comparison to danio i might circulate with a tetra like the purple eye something that may not get eatten via the attitude as quickly because it fairly is finished grown.) you're able to desire to upload another fish like a Gourami or small 3" cichlid like a ram playstation : I even have an entire grown Clown pleco in a 36 gal tank. She is two years old. those fish in undemanding terms get 3-4" max. Mine is 3". A 30 gal tank is nice for them. not all plecos get vast. As for flowers till you have stable mild and fert do not subject. Java moss and java fern are 2 flowers what's going to grown on something in very almost any mild. Rocks and your clown pleco might desire to have wood to munch on. Rocks and a few mopani wood the not undemanding stuff you're able to purchase at puppy shops is superb. yet will leak tannins not a brilliant deal it basically supply the water a tea like color. soak it in warm water for some weeks till now including to the tank.
