Bromeliads are generally short-lived. They are pretty diverse and from the same family as both the Pineapple and spanish moss. They get much of their moisture from the air. If the leaves form a "cup" keep a little water in it. Mist with water often. They like bright light but no direct sun. They will start to die back slowly after flowering. In many species, the true flowers appear between the often colorful bracts that are sometimes mistaken for flowers. The plant will send out offshoots as it dies. These may be harvested (pulled or cut from the mother plant) and grown on. They should be allowed to dry out for a day or two in a warm place (again no sun) before planting in inmilled spagnum peat moss or similar medium. It may take several years before the "pups" bloom.

Bromeliads are pretty easy to grow. They are most like an orchid where as they can live without soil. Most of the water that they absorb is actually stored in the cup that their leaves create, not by their roots. We have had the best luck wrapping the bromeliads roots in spagnum moss and then attaching the spagnum moss to a dead tree branch using a staple gun. You do not want to staple the bromeliad, just the spagnum moss you've wrapped around it's base. You can then just use a spray bottle for watering the little ones, some of the larger varieties would require a little more liquid added to the center of the plant.
Hope that helps... Best of Luck! :)

Water the plant inside the plant where the flower comes out of the leaves with clean distilled water. The soil should be a mix that is good for succulents so as not to get to soggy. You may want to water the soil with a little bit of water once every couple of weeks, but never let it get drenched. Indirect light is good.

Peace
